What Are Showroom Ads?

Showroom Ads are an interactive Microsoft Advertising format that appears inside Copilot conversations. Rather than a static text or image ad, users encounter an immersive “showroom” where they can browse products, view different configurations, compare features, and read reviews — all without leaving the Copilot interface.

Showroom Ads represent Microsoft’s vision of advertising as a service: the ad helps the user, rather than interrupting them.

How Showroom Ads Work

When a user’s Copilot query triggers a Showroom Ad placement, an interactive product panel appears below the organic response. The panel is dynamically assembled from your Microsoft Merchant Center feed, product images, and structured data.

Showroom Ads are delivered via Performance Max campaigns. There is no separate Showroom Ads campaign type — PMax automatically includes Showroom placements when your assets qualify.

The User Experience

From the user’s perspective, a Showroom Ad appears as a natural extension of the conversation. Copilot might say “Here are some options that match what you’re looking for” followed by the interactive Showroom panel.

Within the panel, users can:

  • Swipe through product variants (colour, size, model)
  • Expand product details and specifications
  • Read reviews and ratings
  • Compare two or more products side by side
  • Proceed directly to Copilot Checkout or your product page

Creative Asset Requirements

Showroom Ad quality depends heavily on your Merchant Center feed and supplementary creative assets. Ensure the following:

  • Images: Minimum 800×800px, product on white or neutral background, multiple angles
  • Video: Optional but recommended. 15–30 second product demonstrations perform well
  • Title: Under 150 characters, include key attributes
  • Description: 500–1,000 characters, structured for AI parsing
  • Price: Must match your live storefront in real time
  • Availability: Accurate stock status required

Ads Studio & AI Creative Tools

Microsoft’s Ads Studio, accessible through Microsoft Advertising, offers AI-powered creative tools that are particularly useful for Showroom Ad assets.

In late 2025, Microsoft added Image Animation — a feature that transforms static product images into short video assets using Copilot. This is significant for Showroom Ads, where video content substantially increases engagement. The feature is available globally (excluding mainland China) through Ads Studio’s video templates.

Optimisation & Best Practice

Showroom Ads perform best when the full product experience is seamless. Focus on these optimisation priorities:

  • Feed freshness: Update product data daily or in real time via API
  • Image quality: Professional product photography consistently outperforms lifestyle shots in Showroom format
  • Inventory alignment: Ads for out-of-stock products damage quality scores
  • Pricing accuracy: Discrepancies between feed and live site reduce conversion and can trigger policy flags
  • Review signals: Products with verified reviews perform significantly better
